Problem statements
- To digitize the risk-assessment checklists for army drivers: transformed a completely manual process into a fully automated workflow-based process on hand held devices. Received rave reviews from management and users for saving up to 70% time and effort and the user friendly UI design.
- To digitize temperature taking in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Architecture and design of the solution
- Used a JavaScript framework
- Separated the UI into reusable components to share logic and styles
- Leveraged state management features and cache data to reduce data usage
- Leveraged modern web technologies such as service workers to enable the website to function offline or in poor data conditions
- Used AWS for deploying and hosting
- Used GitHub Actions for automated testing
- Extensive structured documentation of the codebase for ease of knowledge transfer
Current state
- Rolled out to production nation-wide
- Currently being used by over 800 people in across military transport units
